Restaurant Inspections – June 1

The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

May 1

Zapp Thai Restaurant

Location: 2045 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of inspection: Routine

Violations found: C – employees need to wash hands before putting on gloves and take off gloves after touching raw meat before touching utensils or other surfaces, corrected; C/R – need certified food handler, cannot be food handler for multiple stores and food handler must be full-time employee, to be corrected by July 1; NC – do not store ice buckets inside of each other, corrected.

Lincoln Square Pancake House

Location: 118 W. Main St., Greenfield

Type of inspection: Routine

Violations found: C – salad prep cooler is running warm, corrected/moved/discarded; C – must date-mark all in-house made potentially hazardous foods held longer than 24 hours, date-mark slaw, dressing, etc., to be corrected by May 1; C – sanitizing solutions in buckets too high concentration, corrected; NC/R – wiping cloths must be stored in sanitized solution between uses, corrected.

Subway

Location: 323 S. Oak St., Fortville

Type of inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC – container holding ice scoop at drive-thru must be clean so as not to contaminate ice scoop, corrected; NC – need to rinse all equipment/utensils before placing in sanitizing solution, corrected.

Ivy House Bed and Breakfast

Location: 304 N. Merrill St., Fortville

Type of inspection: Routine

No violations found.

Foxgardin Kitchen & Ale

Location: 215 S. Main St., Fortville

Type of inspection: Routine

Violations found: C – dispenser at three-compartment sink of sanitizer not dispensing, corrected; C/R – working containers/spray bottles not marked with common name of chemical, to be corrected by May 2.

Tour of Italy

Location: 5 American Legion Place, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — need to have employee health policy available and reviewed with staff, corrected/sample given; C/R — employee drinks need to be covered and stored away from food, clean dishes and prep areas, corrected; C/R — food contact surfaces are being contaminated, employee observed putting on gloves without washing hands before prepping salad, utensils being stored between equipment crevices, knives stored with dirty knives on magnetic strip, to be corrected by May 3.

Avi Food Systems

Location: 1300 W. Anderson Blvd., Greenfield
