Restaurant Inspections – December 15

The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually, and violations are labeled “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

Nov. 29

Bob Evans Farms Inc.

Location: 2256 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: C – after handling pre-portioned raw chicken on grill, need to remove gloves before touching anything else, wash hands and put on new gloves before touching ready-to-eat foods, corrected.

Nov. 30

Mozzi’s

Location: 18 W. Main St., New Palestine

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: C – always wash hands before putting gloves on to handle ready-to-eat foods such as salad, cannoli, etc. Also have employees assemble from coolers before washing hands and putting on gloves, corrected.

Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar

Location: 11792 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: C – soup not hot enough in hold area, corrected.

Y Not Pizza

Location: 56 W. Main St., New Palestine

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: NC – repair lights in kitchen, to be corrected by Feb. 1; NC/R – need to obtain food thermometer with thin tip, to be corrected by Feb. 1; NC/R – need to obtain sanitizer test strips (chlorine), to be corrected by Feb. 1; NC/R – repair small gap at back door, to be corrected by Feb. 1.

El Jaripeo

Location: 38 W. Main St., New Palestine

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: C – prevent cross-contamination – wash hands, change gloves when going from raw animal foods to ready-to-eat foods, corrected; C – do not store raw animal food over ready-to-eat food, chicken (raw) is always on the bottom, corrected.
