LaDonna Scharlene (Settles) Williams, 82, of Cumberland, Ind., passed away on May 25, 2016, at her home with her family by her side. She was born on March 7, 1934, in Shelby County, Ind., to Charles L. Settles and Hilda Marie (Harvey) Settles.
She later met and married Clancy (“Buck”) Williams Jr. and had been happily married for several years before his passing in 2005. LaDonna graduated from Clayton High School in Clayton, Ind., in 1952. After completing her education, she later went to work for Indiana Bell, the National Drive-In theatre, and was co-owner of Williams Union 76 with her husband, Buck. She enjoyed cooking and cherished the time she spent caring for her family.
LaDonna is survived by her daughter, Joni (Melvin) Curtis; daughter, Tina Waymire; son, Clancy (Tina Marie) Williams III; her siblings, Donald, Joseph, Linda, Carolyn Sue and Keith; grandchildren, Misty (Shawn) Williams, Allyson (Jeff) Sholl, Adam Curtis, Jennifer (Sean) Snyder, Rusty (Dawn) Williams IV, Becky Waymire, Eric (Alysha) Curtis, Brandi Williams, Bryan (Sarah) Milligan, Brandon (Lauren) Milligan, Sean Williams, Brandon Phillips and Corey Davis; as well as 21 great-grandchildren with one on the way.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, as well as eight siblings, Maxine, Charles, Earl, Paul, Richard, Calvin, Carl and Steven.
Visitation for LaDonna will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. June 1, at Hendryx Mortuary, Cumberland Chapel, 11636 East Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery in Indianapolis.
