Hazel “Lucille” Cropper, age 87 of Shelbyville, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at Hickory Creek Nursing Home in Greensburg, Ind. She was born on April 29, 1929, in Indianapolis, to the late Dewey and Hazel (Smith) Dora.

Lucille graduated from Shortridge High School in Indianapolis and would spend her life working as an aviation machinist for the KT Corporation in Shelbyville. Lucille was involved with the Women’s Civil Air Patrol for many years and was a former herbalist. Lucille enjoyed arts and crafts, puzzles, reading, gardening, and canning.

Lucille is survived by her sons, Johnell Rodgers of Pendleton, Damon Rogers of Shelbyville, Brad Rogers of Carthage; daughters, Jalene Brown of Hendersonville, Tenn., Peggy Rogers of Cocoa, Fla.; stepdaughters, Opal Wilson of Onalaska, Texas, Brenda Brooks of Carthage; brother, Ted Dora of Shelbyville; sister, Bonnie Capshaw of Indianapolis; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 13 stepgreat-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents listed above; first husband Harvey Rogers; second husband Elmer Cropper; brothers, Philip Dora, James Dora, Dewey Dora Jr. and sister, Loretta Spencer.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield, 1780 West Main St., Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at the funeral home with burial immediately following the service at Bennett Cemetery in Shelby County.
