James Thomas, 64, of Greenfield, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013. He was born on April 10, 1949, in Jesse, W. V., the son of William Terry and Lucy Bell (Lewis) Thomas.

He served in the Army during the Vietnam War from 1968 until 1971, as a SP-4 Corporal. He married Delores (Henson) Thomas in 1972.

He worked for GM as a Machinist for thirty years, before retiring in 2005. James was a member of the UAW. In his free time, he enjoyed reading, being outdoors, loved nature and the old west.

He is survived by his loving wife, of 41 years, Delores Thomas of Greenfield; sons, James G. (Cathy) Thomas of Lafayette, Ed (Margie) Hoskins of Greenfield, Ken Hoskins of Indianapolis, Rick (Melissa) Hoskins of Indianapolis, and Wayne Hoskins of Indianapolis; daughter, Cleo Hubbard of Manchester, Ky.; brothers, Bill and Paul; sisters, Margaret, Carol, Linda, Mary and Brenda; 21 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Kathleen Keith.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory in Greenfield, with calling hours beginning at 10 a.m. Chaplain Katherine Murray will be officiating. Burial will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis with full military rites.
