City looks to increase fire territory tax
GREENFIELD – City Council is looking to increase the Greenfield Fire Territory tax rate from $0.2317 per $100 of assessed property valuation to $0.3317 per $100 of assessed property valuation.
GPD investigating burglary, auto theft
GREENFIELD — A late night break-in of a local business has many moving pieces involving several law enforcement agencies, local officials say. Detectives with the Greenfield Police Department are investigating the burglary of Stanfield Auto Sales, 911 W. Main Street, Greenfield. The break-in occurred around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.
SIGNING OFF: Longtime emergency dispatcher steps down, heads to work for county commissioners
HANCOCK COUNTY — It wasn’t a day she was looking forward to but it ended with a celebration cake, plenty of phone calls, hugs and lots of smiles. After 22 years as an emergency dispatcher, including the last 13 in Hancock County, Cindy Carver retired from the local 9-1-1 emergency service at the beginning of the month.
Fill-in named for county judge
HANCOCK COUNTY — For the meantime, the county will have a temporary judge working in Hancock County Superior Court 1. Effective Tuesday, July 19, senior judge Jeffrey C. Eggers will fill in as courtroom judicial official replacing judge D.J. Davis.
Child recovering after struck by car
GREENFIELD — A Greenfield child is recovering at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis after being struck by a vehicle while riding her bike early Tuesday morning. The child, a 12 year old female, was riding her bicycle on the sidewalk northbound on Morristown Pike around 9 a.m. prior to the crash, officials from the Greenfield Police Department say.
