GREENFIELD – City Council is looking to increase the Greenfield Fire Territory tax rate from $0.2317 per $100 of assessed property valuation to $0.3317 per $100 of assessed property valuation.
Council members voted 6-0 Wednesday night in favor of an ordinance on the first of two readings authorizing a petition for the increase to the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance.
The territory’s maximum levy would increase from nearly $3.7 million to over $4.8 million for tax year 2023 and beyond.
The council is slated to have a second and final vote on the ordinance at its next meeting, which is at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 27 at City Hall, 10 S. State St.
