Several Shirley area residents received awards in the Pumpkins and Peddlers festival earlier this month. Judges for the pumpkin decorating contest were Eastern Hancock teachers Lorrie Edwards and Tracy Jadernak. First place was Luke Ebbert; second place, Julie Beasley; third place, Malcom Jackson. Recipes for the cooking contest were judged by Karen Griffin and Debbie Jennings. First place went to Robyn Clark; second place, Donita Willis; third place, to Christina Clark. Cheryl Wright won a prize for guessing the weight of a pumpkin, missing by just one pound.

HCCF receives accreditation from national group

Hancock County COAD meeting scheduled

HANCOCK COUNTY — The Hancock County Community Organization Active in Disaster (COAD) will meet at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25 at Greenfield Christian Church, 23 N. East St., downtown Greenfield. The agenda will be to discuss needed changes in procedures and review the shift duties for each position. They will also brainstorm ways to recruit more volunteers. Please invite others who have a passion for helping the homeless.
