Immersive inspiration: EH art students take field trip to The Lume at Newfields
CHARLOTTESVILLE – Students in Lorrie Edwards’ Eastern Hancock High School Advanced Art 1 and 2 classes took a field trip to The Lume at Newfields Oct. 4. The interactive exhibit had students experiencing the works of Oscar-Claude Monet and others in an immersive environment. They were also required to do sketches of pointillism pieces to gain inspiration for their own pointillism piece.
Plea agreements close out two seperate county drug cases
HANCOCK COUNTY — A couple felony drug cases wrapped late last week in Hancock County Circuit Court following the acceptance of plea agreements by judge Scott Sirk on Thursday, Oct. 20.

Several Shirley area residents received awards in the Pumpkins and Peddlers festival earlier this month. Judges for the pumpkin decorating contest were Eastern Hancock teachers Lorrie Edwards and Tracy Jadernak. First place was Luke Ebbert; second place, Julie Beasley; third place, Malcom Jackson. Recipes for the cooking contest were judged by Karen Griffin and Debbie Jennings. First place went to Robyn Clark; second place, Donita Willis; third place, to Christina Clark. Cheryl Wright won a prize for guessing the weight of a pumpkin, missing by just one pound.
HCCF receives accreditation from national group
GREENFIELD – The Hancock County Community Foundation (HCCF) recently received accreditation with the nation’s highest standard for philanthropic excellence, according to a press release.
