Mt. Vernon’s girls track and field team finished fourth and Greenfield-Central’s squad placed fifth at Saturday’s Kokomo Relays, the 100th running of the event.
Carmel won the eight-team meet with 144 points. Center Grove was second with 88. Mt. Vernon scored 73 and Greenfield-Central had 63.
Both Mt. Vernon and Greenfield-Central won one event.
G-C’s Savannah Lake won the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.42 seconds.
Mt. Vernon’s shuttle hurdle relay team of Elayna Stanfield, Marissa Miner, Madeline Wilson and Anna Stanfield won with a time of 1-minute, 9.49 seconds.
Both teams will compete Wednesday at the Hancock County Meet at Mt. Vernon High School, scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
Dragons place ninth
New Palestine’s girls track and field team finished in ninth place at Friday’s Zionsville Invitational.
Sophomore Abby Journay led the New Pal squad with a pair of third-place finishes.
She was third in the 200-meter dash (26.09 seconds) and high jump (5-feet, 2-inches).
New Palestine scored 32 points in the 10-team meet. Brownsburg won with 106. Harrison placed second with 86.67.
The Dragons will compete at Wednesday’s Hancock County Meet at Mt. Vernon High School, scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
Royals finish third
Eastern Hancock’s girls track and field team placed third at Thursday’s Eastern Hancock Invitational.
Herron won with 158 points. Hagerstown had 104 and Eastern scored 100. There were seven teams in the event.
Eastern freshman Bella Sotelo won the 200-meter dash (27.31 seconds) and the 300 hurdles (no time available).
Ellie Meyer was victorious in the high jump (5-feet).
The Royals will compete at Wednesday’s Hancock County Meet at Mt. Vernon High School, scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
