County sees new daily case high

HANCOCK COUNTY — The county added 141 new COVID-19 cases confirmed on Wednesday, the most in a single day throughout the pandemic.

Another new case was also confirmed from Tuesday, bringing the total added Thursday to 162 for a  total of 5,777 infections since the pandemic began.

Wednesday’s addition broke the county’s previous daily case record of 136 on Dec. 2, about a week after Thanksgiving.

No new novel coronavirus deaths were added for Hancock County Thursday, keeping that total at 88.

The county also added 979 tests, raising its total to 68,407.

Statewide, 81 new COVID-19 deaths were added Thursday, raising the total to 8,452. Another 7,344 cases brought that total to 546,499.
