Dragons girls hoops wins fourth straight

The New Palestine girls basketball team won its fourth straight game Tuesday, holding off host Shelbyville 48-41.

The victory gives the Dragons a 6-2 record on the season and a 3-0 mark in the Hoosier Heritage Conference.

The Dragons had four double-figure scorers in the victory, led by Isabella Gizzi’s 13 points. Addi Jones added 12 points, Grace Marshall 11 and Anna Ackerman 10. It marked the second time in three games the Dragons had four double-figure scorers.

The Dragons are next in action tonight at Greenfield-Central.

Royals Boosters seeking HOF nominees

The Eastern Hancock Athletic Boosters are seeking nominations for the 2021 class of the Eastern Hancock Athletic Hall of Fame.

The EH Hall of Fame recognizes the achievements of former athletes, teams, coaches, administrators and other contributors to the athletic programs at Eastern Hancock, Charlottesville, Westland and Wilkinson High Schools.

To be eligible, an athlete must be seven years removed from competition, coaches must be five years removed and teams must be 10 years removed.

Nominations are due to the EH athletic director’s office or by email to [email protected] by 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 18, 2020.

The 2021 Eastern Hancock Hall of Fame class will be recognized at halftime of the EH-Union County boys varsity basketball game on Jan. 30, 2021, if fans are permitted, or at a later date.

IHSAA conducting officials recruiting event

With the continued assistance from the Indiana Sports Corp, the IHSAA is conducting a virtual clinic for all interested middle/high school aspiring football officials during the Big Ten Championships in Indianapolis.

Those completing the training program will be enrolled in the IHSAA’s scholarship program for officials; receiving a free license and state level official as their mentor.

This will be a three-part free clinic.

Basic introduction to the profession

Keynote speakers to address the attendees

April 12, 7-8 p.m.: Steps to Training and Licensing [virtual meeting]

IHSAA Mentor assigned

Licensing resources and exam preparation by IHSAA Clinicians

June 26, 9 a.m. — 4 p.m.: Clinic [in-person] @ Marian University

Final exam completion with IHSAA Clinicians

Live field work with IHSAA/IFOA State Clinicians
