Theatre company part of Lincoln tribute

SHELBYVILLE — Ricks-Weil Theatre Company will present a one-act play, “The Day Lincoln Died,” at 7 p.m. April 4 and 5 at the Strand Theater, 215 S. Harrison St. The one-act is part of “An Evening with Lincoln” presented by the Strand Theater. The first part of the evening will be an interview with President Abraham Lincoln, portrayed by actor Danny Russel. Mr. Lincoln will answer questions surrounding events in his time and relate current events to decisions he made more than 150 years ago. The second half will be “The Day Lincoln Died,” a one-act play that follows a Civil War soldier as he returns from battle to his home state of Maine. Tickets on sale for ‘Fairy Tale’ play

GREENFIELD — KidsPlay Inc. children’s theatre will present its spring production of “Fairy Tale Confidential” April 12 and 13 at 7 p.m. and April 14 at 2 p.m. at the H.J. Ricks Centre for the Arts, 122 W. Main St. In this collection of 10-minute, family-friendly one-acts, characters from fairy tales and well-known stories reveal behind-the-scenes and “what really happened” stories. Robin Hood has a pesky younger sister, Charles wants to turn the chocolate factory into a health food company, Dr. Jekyll’s Mr. Hyde is a socially-inept MISS Hyde, Charles Dickens got his start in stand-up comedy, Hansel and Gretel fight as brothers and sisters really do, and Rumpelstiltskin is really sorry about taking the queen’s first-born child. ‘Gilligan’s Island’

opens at the Belfry

NOBLESVILLE — Five passengers set sail on a three-hour boat tour of the Hawaiian islands; unfortunately, the weather starts getting rough, and the tiny ship is tossed and grounded on an uncharted desert island. “Gilligan’s Island — the Musical” opens tomorrow at the Belfry, 10690 Greenfield Ave., and plays through April 14.
