To the editor:
While Donna Steele makes a lot of good points in her article (“Democracy of liberty, laws need protection,” Dec. 19, A4,), she left out some very important information concerning the First Amendment as it applies to conservatives.
One sentence sticks out. As quoted: “Everyone would have the right to find and use their voice. And everyone would be protected under the law, even the minority.”
I take exception to this statement. Where was the law when conservative speakers or student groups were denied the right to speak their minds on many college campuses? They were denied their rights either by liberal administrators or violent and threatening radical leftist students.
