HANCOCK COUNTY — Volunteers ringing bells next to the signature red buckets of the Salvation Army have brought in some $26,600 toward their $40,000 goal, money that will be used to help county residents facing homelessness, said coordinator Jim Peters.
That outpaces the progress made in 2016; at this time last year, ringers had raised about $20,000.
Volunteers are still needed to ring the bells and encourage donations outside Hancock County grocery stores for the dates of Dec. 22 and 23, Peters said. Those interested may sign up by visiting registertoring.com or calling Peters at 317-372-2304.
