George L. “Jack” Martin, age 81, of New Palestine, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2011. He was born August 10, 1929 in Edmonton, Ky., to the late Henry Martin and Emma Akins.
George served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was later employed with Western- Electric for 32 years, retiring in 1986. George married Bessie Flippin and she preceded him in death in 1993.
George is survived by his daughter, Sherry L. Martin; sister, Geneva (Harold) Lucas; and brother, Gene (Pearl) Martin .
A sister, Alma Perry, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until the time of services at 2 p.m., on Sunday, April 3, 2011, at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel, 9606 E. Washington St.
