Class 3A No. 1 New Palestine earned a 4-3 road win at Indian Creek on Monday for its ninth straight win.

The Dragons are now 20-2 this season.

New Palestine never trailed in the game and took a 2-0 lead after the top of the first inning.

Abbey White allowed five hits and two earned runs in three innings of work on the mound for the Dragons, who finished with seven hits.

Tara Morey led the offensive attack with a 2-for-4 effort. She also collected an RBI.

Ashley Prange doubled and scored two runs, while Madison Whitaker had a double, run and RBI.

Mt. Vernon falls in extra innings

Mt. Vernon’s softball team took Bishop Chatard to extra innings but came up just short in the ninth, losing 8-7.

Sadie Baugh led the Marauders’ 13-hit attack going 4-for-4, while teammate Makenzie Gee was 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Lauren Montgomery also brought home two runs for Mt. Vernon.

The Marauders committed five errors in the loss and trailed 5-1 after the first inning.

Greenfield-Central finishes in 2nd place

Greenfield-Central’s golf team battled Hoosier Heritage Conference foe Pendleton Heights on Tuesday, falling 157-180.

Clayton Long led the Cougars with a nine-hole round of 40.
