Live concerts coming up across county

HANCOCK COUNTY – Several free concerts are coming up in Hancock County.

Singer/songwriter Kevin Stonerock will perform July 11 at the Hancock County Public Library in Greenfield this Thursday, July 11. Showtime is at 6:30 p.m.; reserve a seat at hcplibrary.org.

Elvis tribute artist Brooke Wright performs Friday, July 12 at Depot Street Park. Opening act The Roundups starts at 6 p.m.; the park is located at 251 Depot Street in downtown Greenfield.

Summerfest in Fortville features food, vendors and live music from 2-10 p.m. this Saturday, July 13. Burnout performs at 2 p.m., Overdrive at 3 p.m., Ayden Holdt at 3:45 p.m., Chloe Nichole at 5 p.m. and Alyssa Campbell at 7:30 p.m. The festival concludes with fireworks. Juried art show concludes Saturday

GREENFIELD – Experience artistic pieces that highlight the talent and vision of Indiana’s top artists in the final days of the Will Vawter Juried Exhibition and Art Show.

The exhibit is this week through July 13 at the Twenty North Gallery, 20 N. State St., Greenfield. Voting for a favorite art piece continues through July 11. The exhibit is open 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Learn more at hancockcountyarts.org.

Nighttime summer park event this Saturday

GREENFIELD – Glow in the Park returns to Riley Park this Saturday, featuring a large slip and slide down the sledding hill.

The annual celebration of National Parks and Recreation Month also features extended splash pad hours and giveaways. The event is hosted by Greenfield Parks and Recreation.

Hours are 8-10 p.m. July 13 at 280 N. Apple St., Greenfield.

A waiver is required to participate in the slip and slide; all children under 18 must have an adult sign. All activities are free; no registration is required.

Musical coming to downtown venue

GREENFIELD – The CrazyLake Acting Company will present “The 25th Annual County Spelling Bee” July 12-21 at the H.J. Ricks Centre for the Arts.

The musical features a fictional competition between six quirky middle school students who sing about their home lives, their hopes and dreams and their fears in between rounds of the spelling bee. The cast is rounded out by school personnel and members of the spellers’ families

Performance dates are July 12, 13, 14, 19, 20 and 21. Friday and Saturday shows are at 7 p.m.; Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m. Tickets are available for $10 at Hometown Comics, $12 online at crazylakeacting.com or $15 at the door before the show. The Ricks is located at 122 W. Main St., Greenfield.

Police dog fundraiser this week

NEW PALESTINE – A golf outing benefiting the New Palestine K9 Fund is this week.

The New Palestine K9 Golf Outing is at 9 a.m. Thursday, July 11 at The Links Golf Club, 11425 N. PR Links Lane, New Palestine. Cost is $75 per golfer or $300 per team and includes lunch, 18 holes of golf, and a chance for raffle prizes and door prizes. Sponsorships are available.

The K9 Fund is operated from donation and seizure money alone and covers dog food, vet bills, equipment, continued training and more. For information, email [email protected] or call 317-861-4225. Checks can be made payable to the Town of New Palestine, with K9 Donation Fund in the memo.
