Nighttime summer park event coming up

GREENFIELD – Glow in the Park returns to Riley Park July 13, featuring a large slip and slide down the sledding hill.

The annual celebration of National Parks and Recreation Month also features extended splash pad hours and giveaways. The event is hosted by Greenfield Parks and Recreation.

Hours are 8-10 p.m. July 13 at 280 N. Apple St., Greenfield.

A waiver is required to participate int he slip and slide; all children under 18 must have an adult sign. All activities are free; no registration is required.

Eyeglass collection event happening now

GREENFIELD – Donate new and used eyeglasses the entire month of June in support of Lions Optical Missions.

Erlewein Mortuary and Crematory will host an eyeglass collection event now through the end of June at 1484 W. U.S. 40, Greenfield. Drop off eyeglasses during business hours; for questions, call 317-467-4918.

Ringer joins angus association

GREENFIELD – Lillian Ringer of Greenfield is a new junior member of the American Angus Association.

Junior members are eligible to register cattle in the American Angus Association, participate in programs conducted by the group, and take part in national and regional events. The American Angus Association is the largest beef breed association in the world, with nearly 22,000 active adult and junior members, according to a press release. Visit for more.

Chili cookoff fundraiser set

GREENFIELD – A chili cookoff this month will benefit a nonprofit for victims of domestic violence.

Shelter from the Storm Inc. Will host a Chili Cook Off fundraiser at 5 p.m. June 29 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 515 Jefferson Blvd., Greenfield. Tickets range from $1 to $41, based on age and level of participation; a professional entry fee option is also included. Learn more at
