Francis Charles Klauder, “Deacon Frank”, 81, of Fortville peacefully passed away on June 10, 2024. He was born on December 10, 1942, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Philip J. and Margaret (Cooney) Klauder. He was a graduate of North Catholic High School.

Following high school Deacon Frank joined the Philadelphia Police Department and climbed the ranks to Corporal. Following his retirement in 1975, he partnered with his brother in the family Trucking and Warehousing business until 1998. He then transitioned to the Insurance Industry until retiring in 2007 when he relocated to Indiana.

In 1989 Deacon Frank was ordinated as a permanent deacon for the Archdiocese of Philiadelphia and served at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Bensalem, PA. Upon his move to Indiana, he found a home at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Fortville where he served as Deacon for 16 years. During this time, he also worked as the Chaplain with both the Fortville and Greenfield police departments. In addition, Deacon Frank, served in the Fortville community as a member of the Knights of Columbus, becoming a founding member of St. Thomas the Apostle K of C Council #15912 in 2012. He has also served the community with the VFW and American Legion.

Deacon Frank is survived by his children Michael (Janet) Klauder, Michele (Chuck) Lewis, and Kathleen (Guy) Vahle; his grandchildren Christopher (Maria), Chelsea, Morgan, Michael, Sarah, Levi, and Selah; his brothers Philip J. (Rita) Klauder Jr. and Dr. Gerard J. (Linda) Klauder; and sisters Sallianne (Bob) Tschoepe and Mary Kay (Bill) Crockett. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Lynn Klauder in 2006, and his parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at 11 AM at St. Michael Catholic Church, 519 Jefferson Blvd., Greenfield, IN 46140.

Friends may call on Thursday, June 20, 2024, from 9 AM to 11 AM at the church.

Interment will take place at a later date in Bensalem, PA 19020 at the Resurrection Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Deacon Frank’s honor may be made to the Kenneth Butler Memorial Soup Kitchen, 202 E. Main Street, Greenfield, IN 46140. Seals Funeral Home and Cremation are entrusted with arrangements.
