Greenfield native Kyle Gibson is scheduled to make his next start for the St. Louis Cardinals against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field in Chicago Friday.

Gibson, who signed as a free agent with the Cards in the offseason, is 4-2 with a 3.76 earned run average. In a team-high 76.2 innings pitched, Gibson has struck out 67. He has not received a decision in his last two starts.

The 12-year veteran right-hander is slated to face Chicago starter Jordan Wicks — the Cubs’ 2021 first-round draft pick who is recently off the injured list — in the first game of a three-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 2:20 p.m. ET.

Going into Thursday evening’s games, the Cardinals are 33-34 and in second place in the National League Central Division. They are 6.5 games behind the first-place Milwaukee Brewers. The Cubs and Cincinnati Reds are close behind with identical 33-35 records.

The Cardinals are tied for the final National League Wildcard playoff spot.
