Community pool to open soon

GREENFIELD – The free splash pad at Riley Park is open, and the community’s pool will open for the season soon.

The Kathy Dowling Aquatic Center had a soft opening May 26 and May 27. Regular pool hours begin June 1; hours are Monday through Sunday, noon to 7 p.m. Cost is $5 for adults, $3 for children ages 3-17; and $3 for seniors or members of the military. Children ages 2 and younger may join for free. Free swim is open Sundays only from 5-7 p.m.

The pool hosts regular swim lessons for children of all ages throughout the summer; register at parksingreenfield.com. The pool also has passes available for individuals or families, as well as party space to rent cabanas on certain days and hours the pool is open to the community. Childrens choir to host music camp

GREENFIELD – The Hancock County Children’s Choir will host a one-day camp June 10.

“The Music in Me” summer camp is for students ages 5-18 at Mercy Road Church Northeast, 611 Vitality Drive, Fortville.

Students in 7-12th grades will attend the camp from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., while students in grades K-6 will attend from 1-5 p.m. Guest clinician is Dr. Becky Marsh, who will be joined by HCCC directors to present fun and interactive workshops to ignite an appetite for music, according to the organization.

Kids cooking camp available

GREENFIELD – A kids cooking camp for students in kindergarten through seventh grade is coming up in June.

The FCCLA program at Greenfield-Central High School will host the camp from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 11-13 at G-CHS. Students will learn basic culinary skills ranging from basic safety to how to plate and garnish. Cost is $60 and includes a chef hat, apron and food. Email [email protected] for an application.

Summer art classes available

GREENFIELD – Summer art classes for children are available through Greenfield Parks & Recreation Art Studio.

“Amazing Animals” is the theme of the camp June 10-13; “Squishmallow Madness” is June 24-27; and “Creative Castles” is July 8-11. Classes are 9-11 a.m. for children ages 6-8; and noon to 3 p.m. for children ages 9-12.

The studio is located on the lower level of the Patricia Elmore Center, 280 N. Apple St., Greenfield. Pre-registration is required at parks.greenfieldin.org.
