Prep Roundup: G-C golfers win at Greenwood

Tyler Young was medalist with a 36 to lead Greenfield-Central’s boys golf team to a 155-157 victory over Greenwood at Valle Vista Golf Club Thursday.

Corbin Elliott shot a 37 and Avery Young finished with a 38. Trevor Smith finished with a 44.

Dragons beat GCA, EH

New Palestine’s boys golf team defeated Greenwood Christian Academy 173-175 at Hawk’s Tail Golf Course Thursday.

Bryce Marrow led the Dragons with a 41. Brady Torzewski shot 43. Luke Appleby and Jackson Clark carded a 44 and 45, respectively.

On Wednesday at Hawk’s Tail, New Palestine defeated Eastern Hancock 160-169.

Baseball

EH season ends at sectional

Eastern Hancock’s baseball season came to an end Thursday with a 9-5 loss to Northeastern (16-9) in the Shenandoah Sectional.

Eastern Hancock (12-19) scored four times in the top of the first inning. Northeastern rallied to take a 5-4 lead before the Royals tied it with one run in the top of the fifth.

Leading 6-5, Northeastern got some insurance runs by scoring three times in the sixth inning.

The Royals had five hits. Conner Wittgren had two and Chase Stewart, Brayden Sullivan and Carson Borden each had one.

Borden added a stolen base. Hayden Rouse had the team’s lone RBI.

Gavin Jenkins, Colton Dishman, Stewart, Borden and Sullivan scored runs.

Stewart was the losing pitcher. He threw 4.2 innings, gave up seven hits, six runs, two walks and had three strikeouts. Dishman relieved and threw 2.1 innings. He gave up four hits, two earned runs and struck out two.
