Knightstown car show May 18

KNIGHTSTOWN – The Hickory Classic Car Show is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 18.

The event, hosted by Justin’s Helping Hands, will be at the Hoosier Gym, 355 N. Washington St., Knightstown. It’s free to spectators and $15 to register a car. On-site tours of the Hoosier Gym are available, and there will also be food, a DJ, door prizes, vendor booths and more.

Writing class coming up at downtown gallery

GREENFIELD – Writing Your Memories is a class where participants will write from prompts that delve into the memories of their life. The event is at 2 p.m. May 18 at the Twenty North Gallery, 20 N. State St., Greenfield.

Country rock band coming to HCPL

GREENFIELD – Catch a special unplugged performance by hillbilly country-rock band Union Suit Rally later this month.

The free event for all ages is at 6:30 p.m. May 23 at the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield. With instruments like guitars, banjos and mandolins, the group creates a fusion capturing the essence of the Midwest, according to the HCPL. Arts nonprofit to celebrate 25 years

GREENFIELD – Hancock County Arts will celebrate its 25th anniversary in June with a mini Festival of Arts and Crafts.

Designer purse fundraiser for Talitha Koum

GRENFIELD — “Racing to Recovery” is the theme of a designer purse bingo fundraiser event May 17.

The event raises money for Talitha Koum Women’s Recovery House and is set for 6:30 p.m. May 17 at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Greenfield. Tickets at $45 includes dinner, dessert, beverages and 11 games of bingo. Talitha Koum is a nine-bed women’s recovery house in Greenfield. For more, visit talithakoumtk.org.

Local author to speak at event

GREENFIELD – Fortville native William J. Fisher (Bill) will speak about his latest historical fiction novels at an upcoming event.

The Local Author Series at the Hancock County Public Library will feature Fisher at 6:30 p.m. May 21 at the central library, 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield.

Explore the narratives of “Cruel Road,” a finalist in the 2021 New Mexico-Arizona Book Awards, and “The Price of the Sky,” celebrated for its authentic portrayal of American history.
