NEW CASTLE
Richard D. Welborn, 75 of New Castle, and formerly of Greenfield, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2024, at his home surrounded by family. He was born on March 11, 1949, in Shelbyville, IN to the late Cleo & Faye (Lucas) Welborn. Richard graduated from Hancock-Central High School in 1967.
Richard spent nearly 40 years as a parts mechanic at Fields Auto Parts & Junkyard. He had many hobbies, some of which include, riding his Harley, hunting, fishing, trapping, and watching old westerns. Above all, he cherished spending time with his grandchildren and family.
Richard is survived by his son, Richard (Erica) Welborn of Greenfield; daughters, Melissa (Erick) Weitzel of New Castle; Julie Welborn of New Castle; Angela (Chris) Martt of New Castle; mother of his children, Sabrina (Vic) Radcliffe of New Castle; six grandchildren, Jacobi, Dakota, Chase, Tarin, Bentley, and Emma. Richard is preceded in death by his parents listed above.
Visitation will be held from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Friday, May 17, 2024, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 1:00pm. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
