A room at the Hancock County Public Library provides local history and family research sources. The HCPL will offer an event May 29 in celebration of Historic Preservation Month.

Libraries to host programs for adults

HANCOCK COUNTY – Several free programs for adults are coming up in May at local libraries.

Adult Crafternoon Club is May 21 at the Hancock County Public Library in Greenfield. The library will also host Writers Helping Writers May 16, a Brown Bag book discussion May 14, and yoga May 25.

Bill Fisher will be the Local Author Series speaker this month with a presentation May 21. Receive training on creating an Individual Education Program (IEP) for students with special needs May 22. Celebrate Historic Preservation Month in an event May 29 with a guest speaker from the Department of Natural Resources’ Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology. At the Vernon Township Public Library in Fortville, adult English literacy classes continue on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in May. An adult contemporary book club is scheduled for May 2, while the Tuesday Morning Club is available for seniors to meet for crafts, games and more. For additional information, visit vtpl.lib.in.us.

Chamber accepting award nominations

GREENFIELD – The 2024 Community Walk of Fame Awards Celebration is scheduled for June 27, and organizers are accepting award nominations and donations now.

The event is hosted by the Greenfield Area Chamber of Commerce. It will be at St. Michael Parish Life Center, 519 Jefferson St., Greenfield from 6-8 p.m. June 27.

The chamber recognizes exemplary individuals and businesses in the community who dedicate outstanding efforts above and beyond their usual job performance. Awards include businessman of the year, businesswoman of the year, community hero award, nonprofit community service of the year, entrepreneurial spirit and chamber champion award. Nominations are due May 3; forms can be found by emailing [email protected].

Ballet class for all abilities coming up

GREENFIELD – The Arc of Hancock County is offering an adaptive ballet class for all ages and abilities.
