“Grease” coming to MVHS

FORTVILLE — “Grease” is the word at Mt. Vernon High School this month.

The musical performance of “Grease: School Version” is April 25-28 at the MVHS theater. Show times are 7 p.m. April 25, 7 p.m. April 27, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. April 27, and 2 p.m. April 28. Donut Dash coming to Pennsy Trail

GREENFIELD – Go for a run, grab a donut and support Alternatives Inc. In an event April 27.

Alternatives Inc.’s 2024 Donut Dash 5K supports domestic and sexual violence survivors. The event is at 9 a.m. April 27 at Depot Street Park, 251 Depot St., Greenfield. At sign-up pick between competitive or casual run/walk. The route goes down the Pennsy Trail with donuts at the turnaround spot at Brandywine Park and the finish line. Cinco de Mayo event coming to HCPL

GREENFIELD – Children in grades three through five can celebrate Cinco de Mayo at the Hancock County Public Library.

Learn about the history of Cinco de Mayo, basic Spanish, and make tissue paper flowers and maracas. Chips and salsa is provided.

Summer musical auditions May 5-6

GREENFIELD — The CrazyLake Acting Company will host auditions for its summer musical production of “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” from 6-8:30 p.m. May 5 and May 6 in the Dungeon at 98 E. North St. in Greenfield.

Auditioners should wear comfortable clothing suitable for movement and prepare 30-60 seconds of a song to sing a cappella. No audition monologues are required. The first half of the audition will be choreography and vocal auditions and the second half will be reading from the script.

“The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” is a fictional competition between six quirky middle school students who sing about their home lives, their hopes and dreams and their fears in between rounds of the spelling bee. The cast is rounded out by school personnel and members of the spellers’ families. Parts are available for six males, five females and one that can be either. Parts are available for males and females aged 18 and older.
