Weekend tennis roundup: Marauders win invitational

It was a clean sweep for the Mt. Vernon girls tennis team at the Mt. Vernon Invitational Saturday.

The Marauders won all five flights in the tournament.

Caroline Allen was the champion at No. 1 singles, Ginny Morelli won at No. 2 singles and Maria Downs was first at No. 3 singles.

The No. 1 doubles team of Kylie Brandes and Ava Lusby took home the top prize in their bracket and Sophie Maxwell and Addison Lockwood won the No. 2 doubles tournament.

Other teams in the event included, Perry Meridian, Marion, Richmond, Centerville, Danville, Silver Creek and South Knox.

Mt. Vernon is back in action today, opening Hoosier Heritage Conference play with a 4:30 p.m. home contest against Pendleton Heights.
