GREENFIELD, IN
Thomas Robert Boese, 96, passed away on March 16, 2024. Thomas was born on September 11, 1927, in Jay County, Indiana, to Edwin and Miriam Boese. He was one of four children. He was married to his wife Donna for 57 years.
Thomas graduated from Purdue University with a B.A. in Poultry Science. He served in the United States Army from 1950 to 1952 during the Korean War. Tom owned and operated the Shirley Feed Mill for 27 years and then worked for Umbarger’s Show Feeds for the next 26 years, retiring at the age of 90. Tom was an active member and past president of the Indiana Feed and Grain Association. He was a member and past president of the Greenfield Country Club. He was also a member and past president of The Shetland Pony Association. Tom took flying lessons and became a private pilot. He also enjoyed harness racing and spending time with his family.
Tom leaves behind to cherish his memory, two children, Greg (Nancy) Boese and Suzanne (David) Solomon and four grandchildren, Samantha, Gordon, Kaitlin and Thomas. He was also blessed with his first great grandchild, Lily Mae Boese.
He was preceded by his parents, his wife Donna, his son, Jeff Boese, his brother, Jim Boese, and two sisters, Jerry Coddington and Jean Thornburg.
A private graveside service will be held for the Boese family at a later date.
