National Library Week celebrated

GREENFIELD – Celebrate National Library Week with giveaways through the Hancock County Public Library.

National Library Week is April 9-13 and to celebrate, the HCPL is hosting several giveaways. Two Signature Edition Kindle Paperwhites are available to those who check out at least one item this week and fill out an entry form at the bottom of their receipt. For digital checkouts, show your device at the information desk for an entry slip. The library’s central branch is located at 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield; the Sugar Creek branch is at 5731 W. U.S. 52, New Palestine.

Free books for children are also available this week at both locations. The book giveaway is in partnership with United Way of Central Indiana’s Read Across America initiative.

Tri Kappa to host purse bingo fundraiser

GREENFIELD – Tri Kappa in Greenfield will host Girl’s Night Out Blingo at 6:30 p.m. April 17.

The event will be at the Hancock County Fairgrounds and doors open at 5:30 p.m. A light dinner will be provided and beer and wine are available for purchase.

Cost is $45 for 10 games plus one coverall. The event will also feature raffles and pull tabs. Tickets are available at Ella June’s Boutique, 13 W. Main St., Greenfield.

Benefit spring market planned

NEW PALESTINE — Help raise awareness and end human trafficking in the Gather Hope Market this month.

Set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 20, the market will feature handmade items for purchase at Hope Center Indy, 11850 Brookeville Road, Indianapolis. The organization just west of New Palestine is home to more than 30 programs and ministries.

“Shades of Spring” is the theme of the market, featuring nearly 30 vendors. A food truck will be on site; the Redefined Hope Boutique will be open as well as the coffee shop and greenhouse. Learn more at facebook.com/gatherhopemarket.

Pennsy Trail work days scheduled

GREENFIELD – Volunteers are needed to spruce up the Pennsy Trail this spring.

Honeysuckle will be cleared April 20, and a work day at the Monarch Waystation just west of Washington Village Apartments is coming up April 27. Visit pennsytrails.org to sign up and connect.

Shrine club to host meeting

GREENFIELD – The Hancock County Shrine Club will host a meeting and a meal at 6:30 p.m. April 23. The event will be at the Hancock County Fraternal Order of Police, 400 E. Davis Road, Greenfield. Cost is $10 for the meal.
