HANCOCK COUNTY — The Indiana Secretary of State’s Securities Division has announced a partnership with the Hancock County Women’s Resource Center to host a women’s financial empowerment program, titled “Plant a Seed, Watch Her Grow.”

April is Financial Literacy Month, and Secretary Diego Morales and the Securities Division wish to highlight their commitment to promoting financial education throughout the Hoosier state.

“My Securities Division is committed to forming partnerships throughout the community to teach financial literacy skills to Hoosiers,” Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales said in a release. “Outreach events like this provide the opportunity to educate Hoosiers and create confidence when it comes to making smart investments.”

The Secretary State noted, “Plant a Seed, Watch Her Grow” is aimed at providing a comprehensive platform for women to gain insights into managing their finances effectively, investing wisely, and planning for a secure financial future. The event will feature informative sessions and speakers from the community.

“Empowering women with financial knowledge is crucial,” Securities Commissioner Marie Castetter said. “The purpose of this event is to prepare women of all ages and backgrounds with the tools and resources they need to make informed financial decisions, build wealth, and achieve their personal financial goals.”

Castetter said the program will cover a range of topics including budgeting personal finances, understanding investment options, overcoming financial obstacles, achieving financial independence, retirement planning and wealth accumulation.

The program will be held 9:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 13 at the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road in the Community Room and is open to women of all ages and backgrounds. Admission is free.
