The Mt. Vernon softball team fell to 0-2 on the season with a 2-0 loss at Carmel Wednesday.
The host Greyhounds (1-3) scored a run each in the second and third innings off Mt. Vernon sophomore pitcher Cora Rush, who was making her varsity debut.
Both teams had four hits.
Sophomores Breanna Laffey, Mikayla Oger, Emery Wampler and junior Abigail Elliott had the Marauder hits, all singles.
Mt. Vernon (0-2) returns to action Wednesday, April 3, at Franklin Central (0-0).
