Helicopter egg drop this weekend

FORTVILLE – Watch Easter eggs fall from the sky in the fourth annual Helicopter Egg Drop this weekend.

The event is 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Fortville Church of the Nazarene, 701 S. Maple St., Greenfield. The hunt for ages 2 and younger begins at 10:30 a.m. while the helicopter drop is at 11 a.m. Expect crafts for all ages, face painting, a free hot dog lunch and treats for sale. Family programs coming to libraries

GREENFIELD – The month of April is full of family-friendly activities at local libraries.

All-ages events at the Hancock County Public Library include Darry Hood’s one-man comedy and music show April 3 and a Celtic concert by Emily Ann Thompson April 10. The Greenfield library is located at 900 W. McKenzie Road.

The Greenfield library will also host a Lego free build event for children April 11; read to Cleo the opossum April 14; an event celebrating author Mo Willems April 22; and a superhero event April 29. In New Palestine, teens have several chess clubs and writing clubs coming up, as well as a kite building workshop April 11. Parks to host springtime programs

GREENFIELD – Several family programs are coming up this spring through Greenfield Parks and Recreation. Learn about the Spring Equinox this weekend at Thornwood Preserve. A spring hike is planned for 1 p.m. at the park, 1597 S. Morristown Pike, Greenfield.

Celebrate the solar eclipse with space-themed art projects in the art studio’s children’s art program. Classes are April 3, 10 and 17 for grades kindergarten through sixth at the lower level of the Patricia Elmore Center, 280 N. Apple St., Greenfield.

De-cluttering program coming up

GREENFIELD – De-cluttering strategies for the home will be discussed at an upcoming event hosted by Purdue Extension.

“Empower Me to be Clutter Free” is set for 6 p.m. March 26 at the Purdue office, 972 E. Park Ave., Greenfield. The session will delve into the emotional barriers that often prevents people from letting go of things. It will also address paper clutter and how to store items.
