Carl Benton “Ben” Carr, 75, Greenfield, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. Ben was born on June 3, 1948, in Detroit, MI, to Kenneth Ventrice and Susan Bernice (Eagle) Carr. Ben is a graduate of Hancock Central High School. He married his love Marijo Lynn Bravard on May 21, 1971.

Ben worked as an engineer technician for Delco-Remy, Anderson, for 30+ years, before retiring in 2001. Throughout his work history, Ben was always furthering his education and could be seen taking advanced continuing education classes in his engineering fields. After retirement from the factory, Ben went to work for the Greenfield Police Department and then onto Hancock County Sheriff’s Department as a reserve deputy. Ben was a member of the Eden Masonic Lodge for many years before becoming a member of the Shirley Masonic Lodge. He reached the ranks of Master Mason. While Ben was not actively working, he could often be found tinkering with cars, especially as a technician inspector for racing cars with Kendall Late Models. Ben also took pride in singing, fishing, being his family’s weatherman, fixing anything that went awry, spending time outdoors as a wildlife enthusiast, and creating magic in his wood shop for family and friends. But above all, Ben cherished the time he spent with his 4 wonderful grandchildren, especially attending their sporting events. Ben attended Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church. Ben was a tremendously loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him and will be sadly missed.

Ben is survived by his loving wife, Marijo Carr of 53 years; their daughters, Wendi (Bill) Palmer and Kelli (Richard) Silcox; 4 awesome grandchildren: Canyen Benton Palmer, Grace Abigail Silcox, Lauren Ruth Silcox, and Elizabeth Kate Silcox; brother, Victor Carr; sister, Linda Gunby; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Kenneth M. Carr.
