FORTVILLE — Mt. Vernon senior Ellery Minch became the seventh Marauder girls basketball player to be selected to be part of the Indiana All-Star team.

Thirteen players have been selected for the 2024 Indiana Girls’ All-Stars, All-Stars game director Mike Broughton announced earlier this week.

Those chosen to the team will play three games in June — one exhibition game against the Indiana Junior All-Stars as well as home-and-home contests against the Kentucky All-Stars.

Minch, who has signed to play at DePaul University, helped lead the Marauders to a fourth-straight sectional title this season.

The 6-2 forward/guard averaged 14.2 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, 1.8 assists and 1.3 steals.

“I was really nervous in anticipation for it,” Minch said. “I knew there was no guarantee I’d be on the team. And, I know there’s a ton of amazing talent throughout the state for the Class of 2024. It’s a really big honor and I’m very excited and humbled to be a part of it.”

Minch joins an impressive group of Mt. Vernon players to be selected. She’s the first Marauder chosen since Sydney Shelton was selected in 2016. Other Mt. Vernon all-stars were, Erica Moore (2014), Jessica Brown (2012), Johna Goff (2000), Barb Skinner (1979) and Liz Skinner (1978).

“I think it’ll be a really fun experience to just have all the best of the best from around Indiana playing together, having fun and having our last tip-off in high school before everyone goes out and does their own thing in college,” Minch said. “It’ll be fun to get together one last time.”

She was selected as a Junior All-Star last year and recalled watching and being inspired by other all-star teams when she was younger.

“Since I was little, I always wanted to be an Indiana All-Star,” Minch said. “As a girl growing up in Indiana, I looked up to all those girls I’ve seen become Indiana All-Stars and Miss Basketball. They’ve helped pave the way for women in sports, and not just women’s basketball. To be a part of that, and be an Indiana All-Star, it’s kind of weird because I used to look up to them and now little girls will be watching and looking up to people like us.”

Minch was selected along with Audrey Annee of Center Grove, Emma Haan of Zionsville, Alli Harness of Carroll (Flora), Talia Harris of Fishers, Jordyn Poole of Fort Wayne Snider, Camryn Runner of Hamilton Heights, Chloe Spreen of Bedford North Lawrence, Lauren Walsh of Penn, Reagan Wilson of Noblesville, Faith Wiseman of Indian Creek, Rachel Wirts of Center Grove and Juliann Woodard of Jennings County.

Andy Maguire of Zionsville has been named head coach of the 2024 All-Stars. He will be assisted by Jason Simpson of Greensburg and Lauren Votaw of Fishers.

The Junior-Senior exhibition game is set for June 5 at Kokomo. The first game against Kentucky will be June 7 at a site to be announced. The final game against Kentucky will be June 8 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

All three dates will be doubleheaders with the Indiana Boys’ All-Stars, whose roster will be announced later. The roster for the Indiana girls’ Junior All-Stars were announced March 4. The roster for the Indiana boys’ Junior All-Stars will be announced later.

The Indiana Senior girls lead 53-41 in their series with Kentucky. The Indiana Senior girls lead 41-11 in games against the Indiana Junior girls.
