John is survived by Karen Georgia Stumph, his wife of 65 years; his sisters Joan Adams his twin and Sharon Jean David; his four sons, Fred, Frank, John, and Timothy; and his five grandchildren, Steven, Robert, Kathleen, Faith, and Ruby.

John Stumph was born on September 28, 1936, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Freda Irene Childers and Frederick Russell Stumph. John graduated with a degree in Aeronautical / Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University in 1961, where he lettered on the university’s rifle team.

Following graduation, John worked as an engineer for AT&T. Over the forty years he worked there, his projects took him across the country to North Carolina, Kansas, and even Saudi Arabia, where he lived for a few years. He was also a small farmer, raising hogs and various crops.

His children remember him as a strong, driven, and resourceful father whose reputation was colored by sharp intellect and dependability. He was a dedicated, analytical individual who enjoyed learning how things worked and why.

A lifelong outdoorsman, John served as a Cub Scout Pack Master and frequently traveled to Philmont, NM, with his sons during their childhood. John and Karen enjoyed mission trips with Mount Comfort Methodist Church. Later in his life, he liked volunteering at Hancock Regional Hospital.
