Egg hunt for all abilities March 16

GREENFIELD – An Inclusive Egg Hunt is coming up at 10:30 a.m. March 16 for all ages and abilities.

Families United for Support and Encouragement will host the event at a new location this year, the Greenfield Central Junior High School, 1440 N. Franklin St., Greenfield. The free event will be in the school’s gym. Registration is encouraged; visit facebook.com/fuseinc or fuseinc.org for details.

Shoe The World drive this month

GREENFIELD – The annual Shoe The World Drive is happening this month, benefiting Changing Footprints, which provides shoes free of charge to people in the community.

Drop off new or used shoe donations to Erlewein Mortuary and Crematory weekdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. or Saturdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. The drive continues now through March 31. The mortuary is located at 1484 W. U.S. 40, Greenfield.

EHES to host kindergarten events

CHARLOTTESVILLE – Eastern Hancock Elementary School will host kindergarten roundup events from 3:30-8 p.m. March 13-14, and online enrollment is open now for children starting kindergarten in the 2024-25 school year.

Children in Blue River, Brown and Jackson townships attend Eastern Hancock schools. To start the process to enroll, visit easternhancock.org and follow the QR code to request enrollment for school year registration.

The roundup will be at the school, 10450 E. 250N., Charlottesville. Parents should bring their child for a kindergarten readiness assessment, as well as a birth certificate, shot records and proof of residency.

For those that live outside of the district but want to attend the school, a link for a transfer form will be sent upon completion of enrollment.

Friends of the Library seeks new members

GREENFIELD – Friends of the Library is seeking new members and volunteers to help support the Hancock County Public Library.

The organization hosts regular book sales to raise money for special projects, community programs and children’s performers at the HCPL.

Membership forms are available at the Friends Book Store in Greenfield and New Palestine. It is also available to download from the library’s website https://hcplibrary.org/about/friends.htm.

Purse fundraiser to benefit Meals on Wheels

GREENFIELD – Meals on Wheels of Hancock County will host a Spring Designer Purse Bingo fundraiser in March.

The event is 5:30-9:30 p.m. March 21 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 515 Jefferson Blvd., Greenfield. Tickets are $50 and includes 15 games, dinner and dessert. In addition to a chance to win purses, the event will include raffles, door prizes and more. Participants must be 21 to play.
