GREENFIELD
John Robert Hughes, age 93, of Greenfield, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2024, at his home. He was born in Bloomington, Indiana on October 18, 1930, to Audney and Etta May (Pardue) Hughes. He graduated from Oolitic High School. He proudly served in the Airforce. He married Dixie Savage on May 7, 1950.He worked for Rough Notes of Indianapolis as a Bookbinder. John was an avid bowler and golfer. He was also a proud member of the Elks, Moose, and Masonic Lodge of Indianapolis.John is survived by several nieces and nephews and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Audney and Etta May (Pardue) Hughes; wife, Dixie Hughes; son, Richard L. Hughes; brother, William Hughes; and sisters, Vivian Depaulo, Catherine Owens, and Hazel Allen.Visitation will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W US 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held following the visitation at 1:00 p.m. Katherine Murray will be officiating. Burial will follow at Anderson Cemetery in Indianapolis, Indiana.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Susan G.
