Spring fashion show to benefit Special Olympics

GREENFIELD – Special Olympics of Hancock County will host a spring fashion show fundraiser.

The event is at 2 p.m. March 3 at Cynthia’s Hallmark Boutique, 1584 N. State St., Greenfield. Tickets are $10 and include a free piece of jewelry, appetizers, door prizes and store coupons.

Libraries hosting children’s programs in March

HANCOCK COUNTY – Several children’s programs are coming up in March through Hancock County’s libraries.

The Hancock County Public Library will host storytimes for babies, toddlers and preschoolers throughout the month. Registration is no longer necessary; show up early for a ticket to enter. View days and times at hcplibrary.org.

The HCPL in Greenfield will host a kids arts and crafts program March 14; a Lego program March 21; and a Willy Wonka Chocolate Party March 28. The Sugar Creek branch of the HCPL in New Palestine will host a Rhythm and Hues music/art workshop March 14; and a Clean out the Craft Closet event March 19. Children have opportunities to read to an opossum and dogs in March as well. Family programs in March include a game night event March 18; a storyteller March 21 and a saxophone quartet March 25. GREENFIELD – Greenfield Parks and Recreation is hiring for seasonal positions now.

Retirement workshop March 4

GREENFIELD – Learn about making your dreams for retirement a reality in a workshop coming up at the Hancock County Public Library.

Retirement Basics is at 6:30 p.m. March 4 at the Greenfield library, 900 W. McKenzie Road. Ryan Lawson, senior financial advisor at First Merchants Bank, will discuss the basics of retirement planning. Learn more or register at hcplibrary.org.

Insect collections sought for display

GREENFIELD – People who have a display of an insect collection might consider donating it to Greenfield Parks and Recreation.
