Prep roundup: Hall 12th, Rodgers 13th at Plainfield Regional

PLAINFIELD — Greenfield-Central’s Gabe Hall and New Palestine’s Cade Rodgers finished 12th and 13th, respectively at the Plainfield Diving Regional Tuesday.

The top eight competitors at the regional advanced to this weekend’s IHSAA Boys Swimming and Diving State Finals at the IU Natatorium in downtown Indianapolis.

Hall finished with a score of 304.80. Rodgers tallied 213.20.

They qualified for the regional by finishing in the top four at Saturday’s New Palestine Sectional.

Brownsburg’s Maddox Grant won the regional with a score of 406.75. Others advancing from the regional included, William Armstrong (Fountain Central, 397.25), Abram Monahan (Franklin Central, 396.50), Donovan McMahon (Bishop Chatard, 396.25), Drew Guthrie (Plainfield, 394.00), Blayne Lock (Franklin Central, 378.15), Rheid Busby (Plainfield, 364.30), and Emilo Perez (Lawrence North, 361.25).

Gymnastics

New Pal wins at Shelbyville

New Palestine placed first out of four teams competing in Tuesday’s gymnastics meet at Shelbyville High School.

The Dragons won with a score 101.025. Westfield was second with 99.975. Shelbyville scored 82.925. Southwestern (Shelby) was fourth and scored 31.875.

New Palestine scored 27.375 on the floor exercise, 25.4 on vault, 24.275 on balance beam and 23.975 on the uneven bars. They had the top team score on floor, vault and bars.

Individually, New Palestine’s Lynzie Stiller won the all-around (34.500), uneven bars (8.6), floor exercise (9.4) and tied for first with teammate Chiara Polo (8.550) on vault.

New Pal’s Olivia Frank won the balance beam with a score of 8.675.

The team competes Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Connersville Sectional.
