GREENFIELD
David Kenneth White, age 67, of Greenfield, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at St. Vincent Carmel Hospital. He was born in Greenfield on February 14, 1956, the son of Kenneth and Helen Jean (Addison) White. David graduated from Greenfield-Central High School in 1974. After high school, he took an agriculture short course at Purdue University. David married Darla (Jones) on February 11, 1978, in Cumberland, IN.
He was a lifelong farmer in Hancock County. David was a longtime school bus driver for Greenfield-Central Schools, retiring in 2022. He was the past president of Hancock 4-H Agricultural Association and a past Hancock County 4-H leader. David was a member of the Hancock County Cattleman’s Association and Hancock County FOP. He was a past board member of Hancock County Farm Bureau, Hancock Farm Service Agency, and NineStar Election Committee. Most mornings David would attend McDonald’s Breakfast Club. He enjoyed watching tractor pulls, attending the county fair, and cheering on Butler and Purdue Basketball. He loved supporting his granddaughter in all her activities and hanging out at the FSA Office. Many call him friend and will miss his routine phone calls.
David is survived by his loving wife, Darla White of Greenfield. On the day of his passing, they held hands and celebrated 46 wonderful years of marriage. Also surviving are daughter, Lori (Hans) Cooley of Greenfield; granddaughter, Addy Cooley of Greenfield; special sister, Sheryl (Dennis) Smith of Missouri; and several cousins and special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Helen Jean White.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary &Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at the mortuary. Burial will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis.
