GREENFIELD
Michael G. Mackey, age 83, of Greenfield, passed away February 4, 2024, at Springhurst Health Campus. He was born in Connersville, Indiana on February 10, 1940, to George & Rachel (Vannatta) Mackey. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1958. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1958 to 1961. He married Patty (Neely) on July 14, 1959, in Pershing, Indiana.He worked for Greyhound Bus Lines East for 22 years. He also worked for the Hancock County Farm Bureau Co-Op prior to retiring. Mike liked to hunt, tinkering in the garage, working on cars, enjoying the Greyhound retiree breakfast aka “The Liars Club.”He is survived by his son, Shawn (Pam) Mackey; daughter, Merri-Ellen Daniel; grandchildren, Brock Michael Daniel and Mackenzie Jo Mackey; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Mackey; parents, George & Rachel Mackey; brother, George T. Mackey Jr; brother James Mackey; sister-in-law Helen Mackey; sister Jane Murray; and brother-in-law, Lowell “Sticks” Murray.Per Mike’s request, there will be no services. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.The family would like to thank all of the staff at Springhurst Health Campus for the excellent care provided to not only our father, but our whole family.Arrangements are being handled by Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory in Greenfield.
