Prep roundup: New Pal’s Tull advances to state meet

New Palestine freshman Isabelle Tull finished fifth at Tuesday’s Plainfield Girls Diving Regional and has qualified for this weekend’s IHSAA Girls Swimming and Diving State Finals at the IU Natatorium in downtown Indianapolis.

Tull scored 320.45 points. Park Tudor’s Simone Hall won the event with 458.85 points.

The top eight in each of four IHSAA regionals qualify for the state meet.

Warren Central’s Carli Merchant was runner-up with 381.15. Brooke Schluep of Franklin Central (353.30) and Brownsburg’s Madison Day (328.20) joined Tull in the top five.

Also advancing were Cascade’s Courtney Shostrand (314.95), Plainfield’s Audrey Brown (312.65) and Lawrence North’s Lillian Corkwell (298.60).

Greenfield-Central’s Avery Davis (194.35) and Kersey Hudson (184.15) finished 14th and 15th, respectively.

Royals defeat Argonauts

Eastern Hancock had three players score in double figure and eight in the scoring column in a 69-33 victory over visiting Indianapolis Riverside Tuesday.

The Royals hit four first-quarter 3-pointers and jumped out to a big 17-4 lead. At the half, Eastern Hancock led 33-16.

Heading into the final quarter, the Royals led the Argonauts by 33 points, 56-23.

Kayden Ruble led all scorers with 22 points. Charlie Halcomb had 11 first-half points and finished with 16. Halcomb had four of the Royals nine 3-pointers. Six different players hit triples, Halcomb, Ruble, Luke Schilling, Luke Morris, Caiden Willis and Caden Powers.

Willis had 14 points. Schilling added five and Garrett Shaw contributed four. Morris and Powers had three apiece and Eli Manship tallied two points.

Eastern Hancock (9-8) is back in action Friday at Morristown (2-15). Riverside (5-11) travels to Irvington Prep (9-9) Friday.
