FORTVILLE — NineStar Connect announces a construction project for the town of Fortville with the aim to bring the “latest fiber-to-your-home technology” according to a letter sent out to residents this past week.

NineStar Connect said in the letter that during the project they will be installing outside plant infrastructure that is deemed necessary in order to deliver the new services, which will include the placement of underground conduit and fiber-optic cable and ground-level vaults approximately 24” by 36” at certain locations. NineStar Connect said that this construction will take place within the public right-of-way and recorded utility easements.

According to the letter shared, construction should begin within the next few weeks and they will be utilizing a horizontal directional-drilling construction method to place the conduit which is claimed to be the least intrusive to existing lawn and landscape. However, NineStar Connect said it may be necessary to excavate near property lines between homes to access and install grade level vaults, and that other excavations may be needed to “spot” other utilities infrastructure to avoid of current services.

The locating of these utilities may be seen by paint and flags marking approximate locations of existing infrastructure. NineStar Connect said the selected contractor, MillDrill, will follow with installing the conduit and fiber-optic cable and that some mounding or depressions may exist during this process and that reseeding will take place once the project is completed and may require additional trips for touch-ups.

Once the main line is installed and tested by crew, NineStar Connect said they will begin taking orders for the new service. For any questions, contact NineStar Connect’s engineering staff at 317-323-3097 or [email protected].
