Local college students named to honor lists

HANCOCK COUNTY – Several students with Hancock County roots were named to honor lists at colleges and universities across the country for the fall 2023 semester.

Dean’s lists honor students who are taking at least 12 credit hours of classes with a high grade point average; the benchmark GPA varies based on the university.

Molly Reece of McCordsville was named to Concordia University’s dean’s list for earning at least a 3.9 grade GPA; the university is located in Seward, Neb.

Carsyn Burdine and Stephanie Clark, both of Greenfield, were named to the dean’s list at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Ill. for earning at least a 3.5 GPA.

Ashton Willis of Shirley was named to the dean’s list at South Plains College for earning at least a 3.25 GPA. The college is located in Levelland, Texas.

Mia Finn of Fortville made the dean’s list at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Haley Hogue of Greenfield and Ava Matas made the president’s list for academic excellence at Miami University.

Corina Jennings of Greenfield was named to the dean’s list at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion for maintaining at least a 3.5 GPA.

Grace Lorsung of New Palestine was named to the dean’s list of the University of Kentucky’s College of Arts and Sciences. Lorsung is a biology major; the university is located in Lexington, Ky.

Several local students were named to the dean’s list at the University of Indianapolis: from Greenfield, the list included Zackary Bell, Allison Bowman, Abraham Buescher, Kira Bush, Ashley Ellison, Trinity Fields, Brooklyn Harpold, Ethan Howard, Brandon Johnson, Cameron Koch and Ronald Roberts. From New Palestine, dean’s list honorees included Mallory Barnes, Brenna Bastin, Aubrey Butler, Colin Carter, Trevor Commons, Aislyn Garrett, Katelynn Howell, Porter Keevers, Tucker Keevers, Khloe Lucas, Noah Maple, Ethan Sturgeon, Chelsea Waldrep, Devon Whitaker and Sydnee Widmann. McCordsville honorees included Salimatou Bah, Anya Davis, Zachary Haughton, Elaina Hoover, Carson Johnson and Sydnee Perry. From Fortville, Alycia Arkenau and Christopher Wilkerson were named to the list.
