GREENFIELD — The Greenfield-Central school board elected officers and appointed representatives at its first meeting of the year Jan. 8.

Officers were re-elected to serve in the same roles they held last year: Dan Brown, president; Hillary Close, vice president; Dr. Lori Wean, secretary; John Rihm, treasurer; Clark Smith, second vice president.

The board also approved appointments to various other boards in the community. Jeannie Roberts will continue to serve as the school board’s representative on the Hancock County Public Library’s board while Rihm will continue to represent the school system on the Greenfield Parks Department board. Rihm will also serve on Greenfield’s redevelopment commission.

Becky Riley is the appointed representative on the city of Greenfield’s planning board.

Smith was appointed the corporation’s legislative liaison with the Indiana School Boards Association.

While non-board members can be appointed annually to represent the school system on various boards in the community, school board members are elected to serve the corporation in four-year terms.

Three of the five Greenfield-Central school board members will be up for re-election this fall, including Brown, Close and Wean.
