Four local artists to be featured in gallery

GREENFIELD – “Four Members Together” is the title of an upcoming exhibit at the Twenty North Gallery.

Explore the work of local artists Greg Gearlds, Michelle Kimberlin, Scott Lenon and Quing Shue. Gearlds is an artist whose paintings, photographic art and clayworks are all inspired by the simple idea of “what if.” Kimberlin is owner of the Hancock County Creations Arts Studio; she paints and teaches, dividing her time between yoga and art. Scott Lenon is an Indiana-based wood carver who specializes in masks of traditional Japanese drama. Quing Shue is an Indiana artist born in Shenyang, China who paints and draws.

The exhibition begins Jan. 6 and runs through Jan. 27 at the Twenty North Gallery, 20 N. State St., Greenfield. An artists’ reception is scheduled for 6:30-8:30 p.m. Jan. 12 with entertainment by Sweet Marmalade, two violinists.

Art classes coming for adults, children

GREENFIELD – Classes are available for both children and adults in January through Greenfield Parks and Recreation Art Studio.

A three-part mixed-media course is available for children in grades kindergarten through sixth. Classes are 5:30-6:30 p.m. Jan. 3, 10 and 17.

Pet-loving adults can sign up for “DIY Watercolor Pet Portraits” from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Jan. 19. Beginners will be guided through painting simple watercolor flowers and creating a personalized silhouette of their own pet on wood grain paper. No experience required; all materials provided.

Classes are in the lower level of the Patricia Elmore Center in Riley Park, 280 N. Apple St., Greenfield. Register at parks.greenfieldin.org.

Children’s choir open to new members

HANCOCK COUNTY – The Hancock County Children’s Choir will accept new members in January.

Openings are available in all ensembles for children ages 5-18 for the spring semester. The group rehearses Monday afternoons at Mount Comfort Church; a concert will be April 6.

Assessments begin Jan. 8 and there is a $10 fee for the assessment. For more information, visit hancockcountychildrenschoir.org.

Art classes available at downtown gallery

GREENFIELD – Several art classes are coming up at the Twenty North Gallery in downtown Greenfield.

Workshops are hosted by Hancock County Arts, a nonprofit organization that promotes creativity int he community.

A painting workshop with Mary Ann Davis is Jan. 13. Create one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces with custom cabochon pendants Jan. 20. An “Animals in Watercolor” workshop with Dianna Porter is Jan. 27. Create a beaded feather pendant Feb. 24.

The gallery also has open studio time 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays, and 1-4 p.m. Thursdays. For more information or to sign up for classes, visit hancockcountyarts.org.
