“Letters to Santa” programs available

GREENFIELD – Opportunities are available for local children to send their wish lists to Santa.

Write a letter to Santa and drop it in the mailbox at town hall in McCordsville, or the Patricia Elmore Center or Depot Street Park in Greenfield. Include a stamped envelope with a return address for a surprise.

Parents of children in second grade and younger can also send a letter via email to [email protected] to be included in the annual “Letters to Santa” special publication in the Daily Reporter.

Riley home in off-season hours

GREENFIELD – The James Whitcomb Riley Boyhood Home and Museum has switched to its off-season hours.

The home at 250 W. Main St., Greenfield is open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Reservation for tours should be made a week in advance. Call 317-462-8539 or 317-477-4340.

New Pal to host “home” holiday festival

NEW PALESTINE – “Home for the Holidays” is the theme of Winter Fest coming up in New Palestine.

The festival, set for 3-7 p.m. Dec. 9, will feature craft vendors, food trucks, a gingerbread house display, a parade of lights and a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus. A parade begins at 5:15 p.m.

Those interested in entering a gingerbread house should email [email protected]. Houses need to be delivered by Dec. 8 to the Nichols Building.

McCordsville hosts Giving Tree program

McCORDSVILLE – McCordsville Town Hall’s Giving Tree is available for anybody in the Mt. Vernon community to purchase items for neighbors or children in need.

Visit town hall and pick out an ornament with a listed item; bring it back with the ornament attached so the item can be distributed to the corresponding child or family.

Return gifts by Dec. 15. Town hall is located at 6280 W. 800N., McCordsville; hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Shirley seeks help with light display

SHIRLEY – Shirley Visionaries are asking the community to help fill Shirley Park with holiday lights and decorations. Ideal items are LED lights, blown mold lights, inflatable decorations and metal decorations.

Set-up is at 1 p.m. Nov. 25; the lights will be on display Dec. 2 to Jan. 1.

Decorations must be family-friendly for all ages; Shirley Visionaries have the right to remove displays not deemed appropriate. Shirley Visionaries are not responsible for broken or damaged items throughout the display time.
