G-C teachers, staff may be honored through STAR program

GREENFIELD – Parents and community members can honor Greenfield-Central teachers and staff through the STAR Power program with the Greenfield Central School Foundation.

The program, available online and through the mail, allows people to thank teachers, principals, coaches, librarians, bus drivers or cafeteria workers. Visit gcschoolfoundation.com/star-power to find a form to name a person, write an optional note, and contribute a minimum of $10. Each honoree will receive a personalized card listing the donor’s name and special sentiments. All proceeds provide additional resources for G-C teachers, classrooms and students. Forms may be downloaded and mailed in, with a check payable to Greenfield Central School Foundation, 110 W. North St., Greenfield. Donations to the foundation can also be made at gcschoolfoundation.com/donate.

EH hall of fame nominations open

CHARLOTTESVILLE – Nominations are now open for the Eastern Hancock High School Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame.

The award was founded to recognize and celebrate the positive accomplishments and contributions of Eastern Hancock High School alumni. Graduates of Eastern Hancock as well as Charlottesville, Westland, and Wilkinson High Schools are all eligible for consideration.

It is the purpose of the hall of fame to recognize such individuals who have through their performance, conduct, and achievement, brought credit and honor to themselves and Eastern Hancock High School. Their public example will hopefully serve to inspire future graduates to perform and serve in the same spirit.

Honorees will be recognized for outstanding achievement in their chosen field, leadership, the arts, and volunteer/community service. Nominees with outstanding records of achievement deserving of special recognition are eligible.

Immunization clinic Nov. 30

GREENFIELD – A community immunization clinic is coming up from 3-6 p.m. Nov. 30.

The event will be at Greenfield-Central High School, 810 N. Broadway St., Greenfield. Registration can be completed at patients.vaxcare.com/registration with enrollment code IN65942, select Greenfield Central HS-11/30. Walk-ins are also welcome. Bring immunization records and insurance cards.

All who participate in the clinic will be vaccinated with all CDC-recommended vaccines; the state immunization registry will be consulted to assess the immunization needs of each individual. Those who would like to refuse a specific vaccine should contact the Indiana Immunization Coalition at least 48 hours prior to the event at [email protected].

Students vs. teachers in upcoming basketball game

GREENFIELD – Special Olympics Indiana’s Unified Champions program will host a basketball game at 5 p.m. Dec. 13 in which the champions will take on Greenfield-Central teachers.

The event is at the Greenfield Central Junior High School main gym, 1440 N. Franklin St., Greenfield. Admission is $5 for adults and students and proceeds support the Special Olympics program.
