Prep roundup: Marauders win in three at Shenandoah

Mt. Vernon’s Sierra Holverson had seven kills and four service aces in a 3-0 victory at Shenandoah Monday.

Mt. Vernon’s volleyball team jumped out early in a convincing 3-0 victory at Shenandoah Monday.

The Marauders won by set scores of 25-8, 25-17, 25-17 to improve to 14-11 on the season. Shenandoah dropped to 7-17.

For Mt. Vernon, Sierra Holverson had a team-high seven kills and also recorded four service aces. Setter Ava Whitmore had six aces and 27 assists.

Alivia Morgan contributed five kills. Aubrey Dowling had four aces and six digs. Sophia Damer led in blocks with two.

Mt. Vernon travels to New Palestine Thursday.

Royals fall in four

Eastern Hancock’s volleyball team lost a 3-1 decision at Triton Central Monday.

The Royals (18-7) lost by set scores of 27-25, 25-21, 19-25, 25-21.

Triton Central improved to 16-8.

Eastern Hancock travels to Knightstown Tuesday.

Dragons downed in three

New Palestine (23-5) lost a three-set match on the road to Noblesville Monday.

The Dragons lost by set scores of 25-22, 25-21, 25-19.

Noblesville improved to 19-7.

New Palestine is back in action Tuesday at Shelbyville.
